Our laboratory processes macroinvertebrate samples for the purpose of measuring the taxonomic composition and abundance of macroinvertebrates found in freshwater streams. Our procedures are based on several standard laboratory practices, including those used by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) Bureau of Mining and Reclamation. We are members of the Entomological Society of PA & the North American Benthological Society. We identify macroinvertebrates using high quality stereo microscopes to the lowest taxonomic level possible, usually genus level.
